Headshot Guidelines for Men

Headshot Guidelines for Women

Headshot Clothing
  • The fit of your clothing is very important. Anything excessively tight will not bring the best in your headshot.
  • Wear a pressed plain dress shirt (solid color) without patterns as it can be very distracting. Make sure your collars are crisp and have collar stays.  No curled collars! Shirts with structure are flattering compared to a floppy shirt. No swimming here!
  • Make sure your shirt is thick enough, otherwise have an undershirt that is not visible. V-Necks work best in case you decide to have the top of your dress shirt undone.
  • Either bring or wear at least 1 suit or sports jacket. Solid colors or simple work best.
  • Ties – unless your company said not to for your headshot, I highly recommend you bring one at the bare minimum. Ties help compliment your jacket.
Headshot Hair
  • Please take the time to style your hair. You now how it looks best.
  • Avoid coming in with a new haircut within 2-3 days.
  • Bring your styling products, combs or any additional accessory you use to style your hair.
  • Facial hair should be well groomed. Make sure your nose hair and eyebrows are under control.

Headshot Glasses
  • If you wear glasses every day, you should wear them for your headshot. These are how people  recognize you.
  • If you wear contacts and sometimes glasses, bring the glasses to try.
  • If you have multiple pairs, bring them and we can try multiple looks.

  • Lipstick / Lip Gloss is recommended. Bring basic makeup and tools for any additional touch ups.

This should be limited as your headshot is about facial expression. If you would like to have some in the shot, go for simple and not excessive that is distracting. A necklace and or earrings is more than enough.
